Greene County district court, week ending April 17

In Greene County district court Christene Rae Thompson, 50, of Jefferson was found guilty by a jury of murder- first degree. She pleaded guilty April 10 to a charge of domestic abuse assault with/using a dangerous weapon. Sentencing was set for June 5 on both charges.

Brandon Joel Turner, 38, of Scranton was sentenced April 16 to 30 days in jail, with credit for time served on a charge of public intoxication, amended from operating while intoxicated. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for 12 months and he must perform 20 hours of community service. He must complete an OWI 48-hour weekend course and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment. He was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge. Elijah Patrick Fineran, 23, of Denison was sentenced to 30 days in jail, with credit for time served after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- fifth degree, amended from identity theft less than $1,500. The jail term was suspended; should he ever serve it the term will be concurrent to the term in a Greene County magistrate case. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for 12 months. He was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge; both were suspended. The court found him unable to pay court costs or restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Judgment was also entered in a case in magistrate court in which Fineran was charged with theft- fifth degree. An identical judgment was entered in that case, with the jail sentences suspended and the fine and surcharge both suspended. (Sentencing: McCarville)

A judgment was entered in a case against Shawn Michael Jones, 42, of Fort Dodge, who was initially charged with theft- fourth degree (two counts), forgery (two counts), and identify theft less than $1,500 (two counts). He pleaded guilty to one count of forgery and one count of theft- third degree. He was sentenced to five years in prison on the forgery charge, with credit for time served; a judgment was entered for a $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge. The fine and surcharge were suspended. On the theft charge he was sentenced to two years in prison and fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He was sentenced to two years in prison, with the prison terms consecutive. The prison terms are concurrent to sentences on similar charges in Calhoun, Hamilton, Dallas and Sac counties, as well as a sentence in a Webster County case for violation of parole. Darren Scott Lehrkamp, 33, of Scranton was sentenced to one year in jail, with all but 10 days suspended and credit for time served, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. The jail time is consecutive to jail terms in four other magistrate cases, (charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct- fighting/violent behavior, and two violations of a no contact order) for a total of 1 year and 180 days, with all but 20 suspended. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. He must pay restitution for his court appointed attorney not to exceed $500 and $131.50 court costs. A charge of false imprisonment was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Ryan Lee Schulte, 34, of Harper, theft- third degree and forgery; Dakota Rae Sheer, 34, of Rippey, false report of indictable offense to public entity and false report to public safety entity; and Mark Henry Morrow, 64, of Carson, driving while license barred. Trial dates were set for June 16 in every case. ‘

Information is available since the service of an arrest warrant that Anthony Ray Owens, 45, of Guthrie Center is charged with burglary- third degree, attempted burglary- third degree, theft- second degree, theft- fourth degree, and criminal mischief- second degree (two counts). The offenses were committed Dec. 17, 2025; the warrant was served April 17.

A case was initiated April 14 against Dakota Rae Sheer, 34, of Rippey on charges of attempted murder, burglary- first degree, assault while participating in a felony, harassment- first degree, and child endangerment.
